Our Dance Company is an elite group of students chosen within our studio to obtain the responsibility and privilege of representing our studio and themselves as a team, throughout the community. Our Dance Company students are held to a higher standard of growth and expectations, and we have structured the focus of this program around the commitment of each individual student’s training and development. Our Dance Company students are provided with opportunities and experiences to perform for various events within our community, as well as participating in Competition dances at the annual Dance Convention in Oahu every May. Our main objective for our Dance Company Students is that they come into this program with the eagerness to expand their passion for dance and the willingness to be challenged, work hard, and be receptive to consistent feedback from our staff, for optimal growth and progression. We strive to instill qualities such as strong work ethic, commitment, discipline, confidence, and perseverance–values students can carry with them throughout their lives. We also aim to provide high quality professional technique and skills to help better each student in their own individual growth, while they gain a wider range of experience through the process…and of course having fun along the way!

Our Dance Company is open to ages 8 years old to 18 years old. Students are required to have at least 1-2 years previous dance experience. Being a part of our Company is a year long commitment that begins with our Summer Session and goes to the end of our Spring Session (June to June each year). We will still have all of our regular classes for any student to take, but our Company students will have their own private weekly company class, (along with their other required weekly classes listed below) that will provide them with more personal dance training to improve their overall technique and performance skills, while also developing life skills, and creating bonds/friendships with their fellow company classmates!

Students MUST be 8 years old by the audition date in order to attend auditions and participate in Company, there are no exceptions.

Being a member of a dance company is a privilege and comes with responsibility. Personal accountability is essential for a successful season, and commitment to your other company members and yourself is a vital component of this success. When a member of the company is not present, it can negatively impact your entire team. Regular attendance in all classes is expected of Company Members, excess absences may be cause for dismissal from the Dance Company. Absences will be permitted on a case by case basis for each individual student. Absences due to illness and/or mandatory school events will be permitted with prior notice given to the studio director (Amanda Tanigawa). Company members must be present in ALL of their classes and rehearsals the week prior to every performance or event. Punctuality is just as important as attendance, students should be on time and prepared for all classes.
  • Required weekly classes for the SUMMER Session: Ballet Class and one other class of their choice. Please Note: We understand that summer is a time for travel and altered schedules, so we provide an option for students that are not able to physically be in classes for the full 5 weeks of the summer session. Company students are required to pay for the two weekly required summer session classes regardless of their attendance.
  • Required weekly classes for the FALL Session: One Company Class on Fridays, plus Ballet Class, Lyrical Class, and Hip Hop Class.

  • ALL Company members will be able to take ANY additional classes on top of their 4 required weekly classes at a flat discounted rate!
  • PERFORMANCES: ALL Company members are required to participate in our two productions each season, which take place in December and June of each company season. While our Company Students have the opportunity to be included as lead characters or “special roles” in our shows, these roles are not guaranteed exclusively for our Dance Company students, nor should that be a main motive for a student to participate in the Dance Company. There are occasions when our company teams are asked to perform at local events within our community. We will make sure to provide ample notice of dates for these events as well as notification of any additional rehearsals. These events will be mandatory for all Company members, and are intended to be fun, educational, and provide a team building experience.
  • COURTESY & RESPECT: All Company members will be held to the highest standards of conduct. Communicating negatively about anyone in or outside of the studio will not be tolerated under any circumstance. Company Members are expected to show courtesy and respect to all instructors and other students. Any student who exhibits repeated negative or disrespectful behavior will be asked to leave the company. Company members should always be respectful, supportive, encouraging, and exhibit a positive attitude and behavior.
  • DANCE CONVENTION IN OAHU: Each Company member will be required to attend the Dance Convention in Oahu each season, which takes place in May each year. All Company levels will be participating in a dance (or dances) in the competition portion of the convention, as well as the convention classes.
